If you are ready to get your home office completed so you can finally work at home you are probably looking at home office furniture.

There is one piece of home office furniture that every office must have and that is a computer desk. This is both the hub of your business and the centerpiece of your office.

When shopping for your home office furniture you need to keep a few crucial things in mind. First, consider the actual size of your office.

You may dream of having a desk, chair, table, cabinets and a sitting area, but is the room really large enough for all of it? You will need to prioritize what you really need and what you can live without.

So when you start looking for a desk, make sure you don’t get one that is big and bulky if you are short on space. However, you don’t want to get one that makes you feel like all you can fit on it is your keyboard and monitor. You will want space to place things on your desk and of course, room to write.

In addition to a desk, consider what other home office furniture you want to include. In order of priority, you need your computer desk, a computer chair that will be comfortable enough to sit for long hours, a filing cabinet and some shelves to place your printer/fax and other items. You may also want to have a guest chair if you plan to have clients come to your office to meet with you.

Unless you are rich, you most likely will not be buying all of your office furniture in one day. So take advantage of this by shopping around online and at different stores to make sure you get the best deal on each piece.

The great thing about doing price comparisons online is that it saves you a considerable amount of both time and money. You can visit several sites in the time it would normally take to visit one store. Plus, you wont have to spend any money in gas.

Don’t feel overwhelmed, if money is really tight you can always pick up a temporary desk by using a folding table and a decent computer chair. Then you can upgrade as your business starts to make a profit. There have been quite a few million dollar companies that started on nothing more than a card table in the living room.
